The Yamaha YSL-648R is a large-bore Bb/F tenor trombone from Yamaha’s 600 series, the professional line built in Japan. The .547” bore and F-attachment make it the right horn for wind band and orchestral playing, where the low register and valve-side flexibility start to matter. Specialist brass sellers regularly compare this model to the Conn 88H, which is exactly the class of instrument it is.

Condition is an honest 7.5 out of 10. The silver plating is very intact and the horn presents beautifully, but look closely and you can see where a few past dents on the body were repaired. We photograph these things rather than hide them, because the parts that decide how a trombone plays are in excellent shape: the slide is very smooth through its positions, and the sound is solid and projecting, the way a large-bore Yamaha should be.

At RM4,800 this is one of the most affordable routes into a 600-series Yamaha in Malaysia, where new intermediate Bb/F trombones start above RM8,000 once import costs land.
