Condition is an honest 8 out of 10. This horn has been owned and played professionally, which means it has been properly maintained and played in regularly (a good thing for brass instruments). There is normal wear consistent with professional use, but nothing that affects playability or sound. You are getting a horn that has been broken in and settled into its voice.

At RM29,500, this represents exceptional value when you consider that a new Alexander 103 will set you back well over RM50,000. Case is sold separately, and protective accessories are available.

Our comment

From a working professional, played hard but maintained well. The gold lacquer plus the abalone valve caps and the added Joy key give it a level of presence you do not see on a stock 103. Compression was still good, the rotor action smooth, and the sound had that unmistakable Alex 103 directness. New ones run over RM50K, and there is no version of new that comes with a Joy key already installed. A real catch when it was here.
